Attributions and conjectures

[Source - eThembeni Cultural Heritage Management for FHYA, 2016, using KZNM materials: Boxes 5-19, listed under Hall’s name in the KwaZulu Natal Museum collection, and dated 1975, feature pottery sherds collected at the uMgungundlovu ‘brewing hut’. This material was collected in 1973 when George Chadwick and Tim Maggs (Natal Museum archaeologist) conducted preliminary surveys and assessments on the site. Tim Maggs intervened to curb “shovel-testing” on the brewing hut being conducted by Wally Hyde (National Monuments Council (NMC) Honorary Officer) and Chadwick of the Natal Education Department and for many years an NMC representative.]
